2. Run

Whistler is the ultimate vacation destination for runners. With over 40km of paved valley trail and endless singletrack, you could run all day without seeing the same spot twice. Just steps from the front door of the hotel you’ll find the world-famous Lost Lake trail system. Enjoy a relatively flat loop around the shores of the lake or take to the trails to explore the undulating single track through coastal rainforest.

Another popular route is a scenic out and back to Green Lake. Depending on where you decide to turn around, the route can vary between 6 km – 9 km. Other than the exceptional views, our favourite thing about this route is that it can be run entirely on paved valley trail. That means that other than a few road crossings you can completely zone and enjoy your run. Download the RunGO app and under the Fairmont Chateau Whistler profile you will find a selection of voice-guided tours of running trails in Whistler.

3. Hike

Hiking is a wonderful way to combine fitness with time in the outdoors. To get your heart rate pumping, the Ascent Trail up Blackcomb Mountain is just what you’re looking for.

Starting at the Blackcomb Base (conveniently located just next to the Fairmont Chateau Whistler) this elevation grinding trail will take you all the way to the top of Blackcomb. This hike is also great for the knees because you can take a ride on the gondola back down to the valley. You can purchase your ticket to ride back down at the Blackcomb base before hiking up.

4. Health Club

For a classic fitness experience, our health club is equipped with top of the line Technogym equipment. Whatever type of workout you looking for, we have the equipment to support your training including; four treadmills, three elliptical trainer, kettlebells, dumbbells, TRX suspension trainers and a cable cross over machine. Learn more and see the full list of equipment here. You can follow your own routine, or be challenged by the professionals with Peloton class or with a personal training session.

5. Golf

For a slower-paced day of outdoor exercise, it’s hard to beat a round of golf on the award-winning golf course. Spend the day playing 18 holes surrounded by stunning mountain views and expansive greens, and you won’t feel guilty about treating yourself at après. A cold beer or cocktail on the sunny course side patio at The Clubhouse always goes down easy.

The Chateau Whistler Golf Course will be opening for the season on May 10, 2024

6. Swimming Laps

Easy on the joints and surprisingly muscle burning, doing a few laps in our 60 ft outdoor heated lap pool is a fantastic way to incorporate some low impact fitness into your routine. When you’re done your laps, a bit of time recovering in the whirlpool, sauna or eucalyptus steam room is always a welcome treat.

7. Yoga Classes

Fitness is about much more than just building cardio and physical strength. Taking time to rest and recover, both body and mind, can play just as important a role in your fitness journey. Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s guests can enjoy complimentary yoga classes in our Yoga Suite. Visit the Health Club, concierge, or dial ‘0’ from your guest room for more details.

8. Tennis

If tennis is your sport of choice, be sure to pack your racquet. In true resort fashion we have two recently-resurfaced courts onsite for complimentary guest use. Forgot to pack your racquet? No problem. Racquets and balls are available for purchase here at the hotel.

Tennis courts are open from the end of April through till mid-October.

9. Fitness Through Adventure

The best kind of fitness training is when you’re having so much fun you forget it’s a workout. Our Whistler Experience Guides have a calendar full of fun guided adventures that you can join during your stay. You could wake up for a sunrise paddleboard on Lost Lake, or join a hike to Rainbow Falls with our hotel dog Alta. The adventures may make you sweat, but you’ll love it.
