Best Ways To Beat The Summer Heat In Whistler

Mother Nature has finally cranked up the thermostat in Whistler, and we are enjoying some spectacular summer weather. After the unseasonably cool spring and early summer, it would feel rude to complain about the high temperatures, so instead we’re embracing the summer scorch. Just like how there is no bad weather, just the wrong clothing – the weather isn’t too hot you simply need to be doing the right activities. To help you plan we’ve put together some of our favourite summer activities that are perfect for cooling down when the temperature rises.

Escape To The Alpine

The temperature at the top of our mountains is typically 5-10 degrees cooler than in the valley. With just a short gondola ride, you will be transported up into the cooler alpine to enjoy hiking and sightseeing. If you are looking to really cool down why not take advantage of a natural air conditioner with a stroll through the snow walls? They can be accessed on Whistler Mountain via Peak Chair and Pika’s Traverse. Don’t delay; they are quickly melting in the summer sun.

Lounge Lakeside

When in Whistler you will be spoiled for choice for lakeside locales. You can catch a free bus to local favourites like Lost Lake or Rainbow Park, or explore them all via bike. Whistler’s Valley Trail makes it easy to roam around town and discover the many lakeside parks around town.

LOCAL TIP

Don’t forget to grab your lunch to go from Portobello. It makes for the perfect lakeside picnic when hunger strikes.

Stay Cool At The Pool

You don’t need to go far to cool off. Our resort pool is the place to be on a sunny summer day (or really any day). Settle into a sun lounger, slip in for a swim and savour a refreshing cocktail. Fair warning, it will be hard to leave.

Make A Splash

If you’re travelling with little ones we highly recommend a visit to the Splash Pad at Meadow Park. Your kids will love the sprinklers, slides and spouts with plenty of water to cool down. With no need to swim, it’s a great place to relax with a picnic and let your kids run wild.

Lost Lake

It’s hard to beat the refreshing feeling of sipping a cold cocktail on a hot day. We have plenty of patios to pull up to to sip and savour while you cool down. Learn more about where to go by reading – MEET THE PATIOS OF FAIRMONT CHATEAU WHISTLER
