Best Ways To Stay Cool in Whistler Summer Heat

Just like there’s no such thing as bad weather—only the wrong clothing—hot days are all about choosing the right activities. To help you stay cool, we’ve curated our favourite summer experiences designed to beat the heat in the best way.

Escape To The Alpine

Did you know it’s typically 5–10°C cooler at the summit than in the valley? Hop aboard the Blackcomb Gondola and step into a whole new climate zone. At the top, you’ll find alpine trails, epic viewpoints, and if you’re here early in the season, you might still catch the last of the iconic snow walls along Pika’s Traverse. It’s nature’s air conditioning—and it’s only a short chairlift ride away.

Insider Tip: Book a private guided mountain adventure through our Whistler Experience Guide team, exclusively for Fairmont guests.

Lakeside Leisure

Whistler is home to some of BC’s most beautiful glacier-fed lakes, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and paddleboarding. Lost Lake, Alta Lake, and Rainbow Park are all easily accessible by the Valley Trail via foot or by bike. Alternatively, there is a complimentary bus that will take you to Rainbow or Lost Lake. Ask our concierge about best mode of transportation.

Picnic Hack: Grab a gourmet lunch to-go from Portobello before heading lakeside for the ultimate picnic.

Poolside Perfection

No need to wander far—our heated outdoor pool and poolside bar are a summer dream come true. Settle into a lounger with panoramic mountain views, order a handcrafted cocktail, and let the stress of the day melt away. Whether you’re taking a dip or soaking up the sun, the pool at Fairmont Chateau Whistler is your exclusive oasis. New this Summer: Chateau Gelato, offered poolside daily! Cool off with locally made Gelato and all the delicious toppings.

Make A Splash

If you’re travelling with little ones we highly recommend a visit to the Splash Pad at Meadow Park. Your kids will love the sprinklers, slides and spouts with plenty of water to cool down. With no need to swim, it’s a great place to relax with a picnic and let your kids run wild.
