From our Backyard to the World Stage: Supporting Cameron Alexander at the 2026 Winter Games

At Fairmont Chateau Whistler, we have always believed that the mountains around us are more than just a beautiful backdrop; they are a training ground for excellence. This winter, our community spirit is soaring as we cheer for Cameron Alexander and the Alpine Canada Team as they compete in Italy.

We are honoured to share a special partnership with Cameron, supporting his journey as one of Canada’s premier athletes. By providing the sanctuary and recovery tools he needs to excel at the highest level of sport, we are proud to stand behind him as he pushes the boundaries of speed.

Born and raised in North Vancouver, Cameron refined his legendary speed right here with the Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC). He grew up navigating the same world-class terrain that our guests explore today, evolving from a young talent on our local slopes to a Downhill and Super-G specialist now competing on the international stage.

A Legacy in the Making

The connection between Cameron and these peaks runs deep. Before he was clocking podium times on the international circuit, he was a young athlete witnessing the transformative power of the winter season in 2010.

Many in the Valley still remember a young Cameron holding the ceremonial torch in Whistler—a moment that foreshadowed his current path to the world stage in Italy. The events of 2010 established Whistler as a global epicenter for alpine sport, and seeing Cameron compete at the highest level of his sport this winter brings that storied history full circle.
