Camp Fairmont Summer Kickoff

June 30 @ 8:00 am - July 4 @ 9:00 pm

Start the summer off right! Join us for five days of adventure, activities and a whole lot of family-friendly fun at Camp Fairmont. All events are complimentary and exclusive to registered guests of Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

Reservations may be made following check-in to the hotel at the Concierge desk in the hotel lobby or through Royal Service by dialing “0” from your guest room. Please note, advance reservations are not available and will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

All children must be accompanied by an adult at the Camp Fairmont events. Childcare is not provided.

Wednesday, June 30

RAINFOREST ADVENTURE: HIKE TO THE OLD TRAIN WRECK
9:00 AM | Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom | 2.5 hrs
Enjoy a guided, casual hike along the glacier-fed Cheakamus River to the remains of a train derailment from the 1950s. At the wreck, there are train cars scattered upon the forest floor with massive coastal evergreen trees that have grown around them. Some local artists have decorated the cars with colourful graffiti art, providing a great backdrop for photos.
Moderate fitness level is required. Please wear appropriate footwear. Guests are required to wear a mask on the shuttle.

WILDLIFE DISCOVERY: BUSY BEES
10:00 AM | Woodlands Rooftop Terrace | 45 min
Wild bees help pollinate the garden that supplies fresh herbs and flowers for hotel menus and cocktails. After a hard day’s work, the busy bees retreat to the hotel’s bee sanctuary for food, hydration and safe lodging.
Join Robyn Gallagher, who leads the environmental-charge at Fairmont Chateau Whistler, for a guided tour of Chef Isabel Chung’s rooftop garden and our Bee & B Hotel. Learn more about our special winged garden guests and make your own safe pollinator bee house to take home with you.

SPORTS DAY: PLAY A ROUND OF FROLF
1:30 PM | Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom | 2 hrs
Enjoy a round of Frisbee Golf at the Whistler Disc course. Hit specific targets with your disc to complete a hole. There are many great views and laughs to be had while playing. All skill levels are welcome.
Please wear appropriate footwear for hiking in the forest. Guests are required to wear a mask on the shuttle.

WILDERNESS SAFETY TIPS: SAFE, NOT SORRY
4:00 PM| Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom | 1.5 hrs
Join Adventures Specialists from Mountain Skills Academy for tips to confidently explore the wild backcountry of British Columbia. Learn simple navigation skills, trip planning, risk management, and basic wilderness first aid. If you’re able to survive for at least 72 hours out in the wilderness, the chance of finding a way home, or being found by Search & Rescue, is greatly increased. Hands-on learning activities included.

Thursday, July 1

RAINFOREST ADVENTURE: VISIT BRANDYWINE FALLS
10:00 AM| Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom | 2.5 hrs
We’ll head to Brandywine Falls Provincial Park for spectacular views of the 70-metre waterfall, Daisy Lake and the surrounding mountains.
Moderate fitness level is required. Please wear appropriate footwear. Guests are required to wear a mask on the shuttle.

COMMUNITY CELEBRATION: SUMMER KICK-OFF PARTY*
10:00 AM | Woodlands Rooftop Terrace | 1.5 hrs
Join us on the roof for an uplifting celebration of the arrival of summer and of Canada, the beautiful country that we call home. Hosted by popular family entertainer, Ira Pettle, we’ll enjoy crafts, games, birthday cake and an energizing playlist of our favourite summer tunes.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE: THE GREAT CANADIAN GOOSE CHASE*
11:00 AM- 5:00 PM | Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom
In the style of Pokemon Go, find as many virtual Geese as you can in and around Whistler. Discover Canada and test your knowledge of this beautiful country by completing a series of Canadian themed family challenges and questions.
Visit the Eventology Desk in the Frontenac Ballroom Foyer to scan a QR code and download the free App on your smart phone or tablet to play.
Last chance to play is 5:00 PM. Estimate 45-80 minutes to complete. The winner’s prize will be presented at 6:00 PM which will include a special basket of sweet treats and a gift certificate for a future one-night hotel stay.*

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE: CYCLE THE LOST LAKE LOOP*
1:30 PM | Meet outside of the Mountain Adventure Centre back entrance | 2 hrs
Join us for a casual ride around Lost Lake and along the Valley Trail. We’ll visit some of Whistler’s most amazing viewpoints.
Moderate fitness level required. Bring your own or borrow one of ours.

Friday, July 2

CAMP TRADITION: EARLY BIRD LAKE PLUNGE

7:00 AM | Meet in Hotel Lobby | 1 hr
Refresh with an invigorating early morning plunge into Lost Lake. We’ll bring the towels, hot chocolate and some delicious Portobello pastries. Please bring your bathing suit, or change of clothes if required, and something warm to wear after your quick dip. Public washrooms are available. Sign up at the Concierge desk to save your seat on the hotel shuttle. Little Dippers and Big Dippers welcomed. Expected return around 8:00 AM.

CREATIVITY UNLEASHED: PAINT A BEAR
10:00 AM | Woodlands Rooftop Terrace | 1.5 hrs
Join local artist and art instructor, Andrea Mueller for a guided acrylic painting class of one of Whistler’s most beloved residents, the Black Bear. Instruction will start at 10 AM so make sure to arrive on time. No painting experience required. Workshop may take 90 minutes to complete.

AQUA FUN: COOL OFF AT THE WHISTLER SPLASH PAD
1:30 | Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom | 2 hrs
We’ll visit one of Whistler’s many beautiful parks for a playful afternoon at the Splash Park. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit and a towel. Public washrooms are available. Guests are required to wear a mask on the shuttle.

WILDLIFE EDUCATION: LIONS AND WOLVES AND BEARS…OH MY!
7:00 PM | Frontenac Ballroom | 1 hr
Take a fascinating peek into the life of some of Whistler’s furry residents with host Michael Allen, renowned local Wildlife Researcher. Along with a show and tell of his adventures studying wildlife in Whistler, Michael will also share some safety tips on what to do if you encounter any of these animals in the wild.

Saturday, July 3

NATURE DISCOVERY: MAY THE FOREST BE WITH YOU
8:00 AM | Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom | 2 hrs
Join Sabrina Hinitz, a certified Forest Bathing guide and owner of Forest and Flow, for a slow-paced, meditative walk through Whistler’s beautiful rainforest. You’ll be invited along on a journey using all of your senses in order to experience the natural world in a different kind of way. When you slow down to forest time, you never know what you might discover. Let your mind and body relax during this unique experience while you reap the benefits of spending mindful time in nature. A fantastic way to start your day feeling refreshed and full of vitality!

FIELD GAMES: WATER BALLOON TOSS CHALLENGE
10:30 AM | Croquet Lawn | 30 min
For all kids and ‘kids at heart’. Hone your water balloon tossing skills and prepare for an exploding good time. All ages welcome. Prizes to be won!

FIELD GAMES: STREET HOCKEY
1:00 PM | Tennis Court #2 | 1 hr
Join us for some good ol’ summer fun! Sticks will be available to borrow while supplies last.

CRAFTERNOON: FOREVER FLOWERS
3:30 PM | Woodland’s Rooftop Terrace | 1 hr
With a quick ‘how-to’, a few craft supplies that include wire, coloured nylon and scissors, you’ll have everything you need to create a bouquet to enjoy for years to come. Each flower can take up to 30 minutes to create. Best suited to ages 8 and older.

Sunday, July 4

RISE AND CLIMB: WALK AMONG GIANTS
9:30 AM | Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom | 2.5 hrs
Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom located on the lobby level.
Hike from the Whistler valley bottom to the Blackcomb Mountain mid-station through an emerald old-growth rainforest. Aptly named the Big Burn, the trail gains 494 metres over 2.2 km. We’ll download back to the main village, taking in spectacular views of Whistler and surrounding areas.

CULTURAL JOURNEY: BREAKING BANNOCK WITH THE SQUAMISH LIL’WAT CULTURAL CENTRE
12:45 AM | Meet in front of the Frontenac Ballroom | 2 hrs
Our adventure takes us to the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre for an overview of the past and present life of the Squamish and Lil’wat peoples. The tour includes a welcome song, 15-minute film, exhibit tour, and bannock bread sampling.

HAPPIMESS HOUR: PET ROCK AND GARDEN CHARM PAINTING*
1:00 PM | Woodland’s Rooftop Terrace | 1 hr
Bring your creativity and imagination and design your very own pet rock or garden charm to take home with you.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE: LAKE LOOP BIKE RIDE
2:00 PM | Meet outside of the Mountain Adventure Centre back entrance | 3 hrs
Join us for a casual ride along Whistler’s Valley Trail as we visit three of Whistler’s popular swimming holes. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit as you are welcome to break off from the group and spend your afternoon at the beach. Bring your own or borrow one of ours.
