Whiteside Crawford
*BANFF, 9 November 2022 – Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is excited to welcome back Chef Andrew Whiteside to the Canadian Rockies as its executive chef, effective November 2. Fairmont Chateau Whistler is also pleased to announce Chef Cliff Crawford will be re-joining the Fairmont family on November 20 as executive chef of the landmark ski-in ski-out hotel and golf resort.
About Chef Andrew Whiteside: Originally from Guelph, Ontario, Chef Whiteside previously worked at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in 2013 on a three-year tenure that began in Cavell’s (now Orso Trattoria) followed by The Moose’s Nook and banquets. He left Jasper for culinary adventures at Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda, and from there, moved on to become the executive chef at Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Chef Whiteside also held the positions of executive sous chef at Four Seasons Resort Maui and executive chef at Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley prior to his return to Jasper.
Chef Whiteside admits Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge (JPL) has always been a place he has wanted to return to as executive chef. “Having the ability to come back to Canada, where I essentially started my Fairmont hotel career is very exciting,” he said. “JPL is a family, and the feeling of coming back here is something one can’t fully understand unless you’ve worked here before.”
About Chef Cliff Crawford: A passionate food enthusiast, Chef Crawford joins Fairmont Chateau Whistler with over 20 years of professional culinary experience. He joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 2002 at Fairmont Southampton, and in 2011 transferred to Fairmont Vancouver Airport as an executive sous chef. In addition to his last position as executive chef of Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile, Chef Crawford previously held tenures at Fairmont San Francisco and Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
“I always dreamed of travelling the world, and working for Accor has made that a possibility,” said Chef Crawford. “From Bermuda to San Francisco, Jasper, Vancouver, Chicago – and now Whistler – I feel very fortunate for the opportunities I have been given.”
Taking dining to new heights is nothing new for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as these two seasoned chefs join the regional culinary ranks that include Atticus Garant, executive chef of Fairmont Banff Springs and Nicholas Issel, executive chef of Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
The grandest of Fairmont flavours await in Canada’s Western Mountain Region.
