Top 5 Reasons to Golf at Fairmont Chateau Whistler this Season
Alas, the golf season is underway! We’ve missed you all and can’t wait to welcome you back for a round of golf, and a well-deserved après at The Clubhouse this summer! With the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club officially open for the season, we caught up with our golf team to see what they’re most looking forward to about the season ahead. Check out the top 5 reasons why we choose to golf in Whistler, BC!
1. What to know before you go…
We don’t know about you, but we think golf season is the best season! While we’ve been patiently waiting, planning and practicing our swing, we’ve also come up with a handy list of everything you need to know about golfing in Whistler this season. Don’t forget to check out our 2020 Golfer Guidelines before hitting the course. And, while things may look a little bit different to start, we promise, the course is just as spectacular as you remember!
2. Come for the game, stay for the views…
It’s no secret, Whistler’s panoramic mountain landscape is second to none. But, what makes the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club truly special? “Regardless of how you play, the beauty of the property makes it a great place to spend your day.” says Nick Droulis, Director of Golf. Whether you’re searching for the perfect destination to practice your game, or spending a leisurely day on the links with friends, the jaw-dropping views of Whistler are worth the trip alone.
3. Practice makes perfect.
Looking to improve your game? Boasting incredible views of the Whistler Valley, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s Practice Facility, features a 10,000 square foot putting green, practice bunkers, and chipping and pitching areas. Nestled in the forest behind Lost Lake Park, the Practice Facility offers the opportunity to improve your skills and “gives the feeling of a private practice area” says Droulis. Plus, all tee times include complimentary access to the course’s private Practice Facility.
4. Elevate your game.
Known for it’s naturally spectacular and challenging terrain, the course offers the only true mountain golf experience in the area, as it carves out of the slopes of the Coast Mountain range at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 1993, the course traverses creeks and ponds, and stands amongst ancient Douglas firs and granite rock. Not to mention, the 400ft of elevation gain throughout your game, making your ball fly even further! Get ahead of the game with an aerial view of the course before you play!
5. Silence is golden.
There’s something to be said about having the entire course to yourself. And, while that statement may not be entirely true, each hole on the course is uniquely laid out to create a sense of isolation from the next. “It’s serene, as one sees very few other groups during the game.” says Padraic O’Rourke, Assistant Director of Golf. You’re more likely to spot some local wildlife, such as deer or a family of black bears on course, than you are to run into another group on the greens.
Whether you are looking for a tee time (with special rates for BC Residents!), a Season Pass membership or a golf package that lets you stay and play, an exciting round of mountain golf awaits at Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club. We can’t wait to see you on the course this summer!
